I’ve never heard of the comic book “American Reaper” (probably because it’s yet to be published, natch) but it sure sounds like something I’d enjoy. A nice combination of sci-fi, action, and probably political intrigue, given the subject matter. The series is by Pat Mills and Clint Langley, and Xingu Films has already snapped up the movie rights and put it into the pipeline as a live-action movie. If the name Pat Mills sounds familiar, that’s because he was responsible for the comic series “Judge Dredd” and “Marshal Law”, so the guy knows a thing or two about sci-fi action comics.

More about the plot of “American Reaper” from THR:

The story is set in a future where identity theft leads to victims having their minds erased and replaced by those of the elderly rich seeking a second youth or by criminals and terrorists with more sinister motives. A team of special agents, known as Reapers, are formed to track down and terminate those responsible.

Mills will also write the movie adaptation, with Xingu Film’s Trudie Styler will produce alongside Jeremy Davis and Alex Francis. They’re looking at a $50 million dollar budget for the movie.

Expect big guns and lots and lots of hyper violence, I would imagine.
