Aliens vs. Predator 3 is “Certainly” a Go

You can’t keep a good Predator down. Or bad Aliens. Or both the humans running for their lives from said aliens and predator. Good news for fans of the series, because rumor has it that the third installment in the battlin’ aliens franchise is, in all likelihood, will happen over at 20th Century Fox. Or at least that’s the word according to a scooper who told Shock Til You Drop, a horror movie site, so I don’t know what they’re doing covering sci-fi, but I ain’t complain’.

An anonymous source over at 20th Century Fox got in touch with us over the weekend to relay the news another Aliens vs. Predator sequel is a “certainty” at this point. If you recall, the brothers Strause – who helmed the Christmas release Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem – stated Fox was going to take a “wait-and-see” approach to a third chapter, furthermore, that the story would have to continue in space (details). “AvP-R” grossed a worldwide total of $128.8 million; $41 million domestically. It hits DVD on April 15th (specs and art). No word yet if the Strause brothers will return to the franchise.

I guess $128 million, not including DVD sales, which should add a nice chunk of change to the final total, is good enough for a sequel. I still haven’t seen the second one, though…

    What a fooking great idea, loved the idea of the stories pulling together, brings about the circle of confusion, and as they cross over into each story base i don’t really care if its about humans and predators or aliens and kittens, we watch the movies for the bad ass killing, great vision and kick ass aliens predators what ever is on screen, i would how ever love to see a movie where human get one back by getting to the predators home world and doing a little hunting….

    all these ideas sound good, but the one thing that annoys me the most about all these crossovers and writers etc. is that they have a wealth of inspiration that they can tap into but none of them actually use it.

    im talking yes, about the comic book adaptions.

    if you wanted to integrate humans into the equasion without taking too much away from either franchise then i dont understand why no one considering penning avp: war (or its prequels) for a movie. that story alone would have given the predators a vast background for people to tap into.

    they are even planning a predator reboot, which to me is a little senseless even though i want nothing more than some predator action. what they could have done as a sequel of sorts (and actually include arnold for a cameo *with purpose*) is pen Concrete Jungle, the story that involves Dutch’s brother being hunted and tormented by another of the predators clansmen who has seen the history between the other fallen warrior and dutch.

    as for avp cross overs they really should look towards the original comic book crossovers, i would rather have had one of those than avp-r anyday. christ they could even have done lengthy version of the console adapted story of concrete jungle (ps2/xbox) – i’ve played through that story more than once and even to me that had solid ideas which could be turned into a movie.

    flips sake, they have the nerve to throw money at game-to-movie adaptions and not care about messing them up (look at max payne for one, crime of the century imo) why not throw some money at solidify the meaning of the word classic in this new age of film ?

    i just wont to know i saw on movies .com there was a thing for avp3 and it said it was coming out in 2010 some time is that ture or not i told a couple of my friends that it was coming out this year now i have to tell them that is not for sure

    I have been a massive fan of Aliens since I was about ten years old so I look forward to anything that they do!
    However, the Aliens vs Predator movies didn’t leave me feeling they had done the franchise justice. The first being poor with the actors-I thought the main actress was terrible and Sigourney Weaver (who of cause she was going to get compared to) put her to shame! The other cast were hardly to be desired (where were the Hicks, Vasquez, Call,etc stand-out type characters?)and they used Lance Henrikson who didn’t even get to play the character of Bishop and they killed him off early! As for the storyline…well, no comment. The second one was much better in my opinion, but only if I was watching an okay horror/sci-fi movie rather than as a particulary good reprensentation of either Aliens or Predator…so I do hope that the third installment is going to be so much better…

    What would really be great to see is another Aliens movie. One with Ripley. At the end of ressurrection, she had just reached earth and I was really looking forward to what would come of that.

    I really like the story from Aliens novel ‘the female war’ and think it would be fantastic if a lot of the ideas were taken from there and made it a full out war between humans and aliens who fight other breeds of aliens too as they take over the world…but the everything (story, actors and effects) would have to be up to scratch to really pull it off well…not anything like avp though…

    I’m confused if they want to tie the story together wouldn’t be better showing a pred ship crashing leaving it there for when alien 1 starts? and not after alien 4?

    I love this franchise, the action needs to be more tense and it truly needs to be in space. Can’t wait for the third, new aliens and Predator.

    I read all the comments, dumbfounded.. Most comments here make up for the biggest cocktail of S*** I’ve ever read in my entire life. Ok, the kids I get, but the rest..
    Alien 1: Genius. Predator 1&2: Damn good movies. Alien 2: Even more so. Alien 3: misunderstood, depressing, artsy, great, dialog driven and scary as hell, I love it. Alien resurrection: Effects: 10. Story: 4. (it works, but shits all over the original universe. “hey, we’re going back to earth” “Oh, when will we get there, we are outside jurisdictional space” oh, 58 min..” nice. very nice. “I think Giger envisioned the aliens reproductive system like this.. ok, but we ditched that ol’ dude, let’s do this instead” thanks, don’t even bother trying. Avp: S*** Avp R: Even more s*** with a touch of reality TV and Chucky. The alien vs predator movies totally don’t give a crap about anything at all to try and stick to the universe/(es), the comics and movies of predator and alien created. (Comics should be taken with a pinch of salt, but even they can’t be as bad as this)
    Actually, the first alien vs pr comic had the whole thing happen on a desert planet, the story was great, action AND suspense, and the artwork was fantastic. This is the story AvsP is based on. In fact, all the things they changed are the worst possible things to change, they took a good story and ruined it completely with the most ridiculous ideas ever. Right time period too, not this “Predators are coming to earth to steal you’re volvo” s***) They should have stuck to the comics. If you see any brothers called Strauss, boo them! ;( (Sorry for typos, I’m MAD!) I put a curse on these directors who sodomize a great concept and great art! I’m sorry, I like GOOD movies, and I’m a fan. I do not won’t this, I want a real movie! Give us a real one, we don’t want this crap!!!
