Alex Pettyfer Will be Number Four for Michael Bay

I’m not number four, he’s number four. Who is number four? Alex Pettyfer is number four. Yup, the pretty boy British actor, who got ugly to play his first American movie “Beastly”, is currently in negotiations to star in the Michael Bay-produced sci-fi actioner “I am Number Four”.

THR reports that Pettyfer, who some may remember as Alex Rider in “Stormbreaker” (or at least, that’s where I know him from), will play the lead in “I am Number Four”. The teen-centric sci-fi film is about a group of teenage aliens who are hiding out on Earth after their planet is obliterated by a rival alien race. Our hero, Pettyfer, bides his time digging the cheerleaders on Earth, but finds himself once again in the crosshairs of the enemy, who have followed him to finish the job.

The movie will be based on a series of young adult novels by James Frey and Jobie Hughes, with screen adaptation by “Smallville” producers/writers Al Gough and Miles Millar. Besides Bay’s producing duties, “I am Number Four” is also being shepherded by some guy name Steven Spielberg and some dudes at Dreamworks. Maybe you’ve heard of them.
