"You see a big container ship being lifted up out of the water by the
strong gravitational forces, but the water itself is not effected? "

While most the movie is not scientifically correct, they got this one not-as-wrong. The seawater behaves as a whole mass around the world; the existence of a tremendous gravity will certainly pull it up and create a cone-like shape for sure , but the shape is only obvious to those who see that effect from the space. The container ship was "detached" from the also-been-lifted sea surface, but the lifted sea surface was relatively "flat" to the ship or those who observe it on the surface of the earth.

I like this movie, but it have bad science it it. All the other comments is valid, but what frustrated me the most is the debris field around the moon after the impact. If the moon gravity is twice that of earth, or even that what it is now, no debris would stay there for so long. But it is fun to watch.....just I which the film makers would stop thinking the general public is idiots....

I loved this movie!! I'm about half way now, and it's getting better and better. I LOVE bad disaster movies. Especially if the writers create a situation that makes you, the viewer, glued to the screen wondering how the hell they are going to tackle this one. <br><br>'Impact' is actually very entertaining, and looks quite slick (no obviously fake backgrounds and such). But the story itself, oh... my... God... TOTALLY unbelievable! It's great, I love it. Kudos to the extreme imagination of the writers. And the fact that the scientific side of this movie is way off makes it even more entertaining. <br><br>Now where's that big bowl of popcorn? I want to see the rest of the series!!

I loved this movie!! I'm about half way now, and it's getting better and better. I LOVE bad disaster movies. Especially if the writers create a situation that makes you, the viewer, glued to the screen wondering how the hell they are going to tackle this one. rnrn'Impact' is actually very entertaining, and looks quite slick (no obviously fake backgrounds and such). But the story itself, oh... my... God... TOTALLY unbelievable! It's great, I love it. Kudos to the extreme imagination of the writers. And the fact that the scientific side of this movie is way off makes it even more entertaining. rnrnNow where's that big bowl of popcorn? I want to see the rest of the series!!
