ABC’s FlashForward Will Play Fair

“FlashForward” comes to our televisions this Fall on ABC. In “FlashForward”, everyone on Earth experiences 2 minutes and 17 seconds of unconsciousness where they have a vision of what they will be doing in 6 months time. It’s based on the Robert J. Sawyer book of the same name, but has quite a few plot points that differ from the book.

Zaptoit was recently at a screening for “FlashForward” and has come away with some minor spoilerish info. Unlike in ABC’s LOST, we the viewing audience won’t be getting our plot revelations in dribs and drabs. No, all will be revealed that was dark and mysterious in the premiere and apparently early on.

April 29, 2010 – This is the date that everyone flashforwards to. No, this isn’t the season finale. Goyer explains, “I think it’s natural for the audience to assume that we’re just going to vamp until episodes 20 and 21, and then a bunch of s***’s going to happen. We’ve already finished [shooting] the first seven episodes, and it will become crystal clear by the end of those seven episodes that that’s not what we’re doing. We’re never going to lie to the audience. We’re going to play by the rules.”

And on the tease factor:

How much we’ll actually be told – Goyer: “At the end of the first season … all the glimpses of the future that you’ve seen of our series regulars, that we’ve teased, we will know whether those particular futures have come to pass or not.”

FlashForward has a great cast and a great idea behind it. The show stars Joesph Fiennes, John Cho, Courtney B. Vance and Lost’s Sonya Walger. FlashForward will hit the tubes on Thursday, Sept 24th at 8 eastern.
