ABC Greenlights New V TV Show Pilot
Sci-Fi TV News, V (New) TV Series — By Nix on January 27, 2009 |
To be honest with you, I’m a little conflicted about this news that ABC has greenlight the pilot for a new TV show based on the V mini-series created by Kenneth Johnson in the ’80s. On the one hand, I’d love for a major network to give sci-fi a try once again, and I’ve always loved the V franchise for so long, I’m kind of excited to see it being reborn on a big stage and not buried on the Sci Fi Channel. On the other hand, Kenneth Johnson has nothing whatsoever to do with the TV show, and that’s kind of a bummer.
There isn’t a lot of information on the new show, but THR has this:
Written on spec by Scott Peters, the new “V” will center on a female Homeland Security agent. Peters is exec producing with HDFilms principal Jason Hall.
So, ABC will pay for a pilot of the new V, and will go from there. I.e. if it’s a hit and people respond to it, the network will order the first half of a first season. And if that does well, they’ll order the rest of the season, and take it from there.
I know Kenneth Johnson has nothing to do with the show, but man, I still hope it’s as good as the mini-series, cause it’s been a while since we had a nice alien invasion show on TV. The last time they gave it a try was Threshold, and that didn’t last past the first year.
