A Look at Amanda Tapping’s Sanctuary
If you don’t know the name Amanda Tapping, then you’re probably reading the wrong site. That having been said, Amanda Tapping has a new sci-fi/horror series coming out called “Sanctuary”, which I didn’t know about until someone asked her about it in an interview being hosted over at The Sci Fi World. (You can download the full interview by clicking here. BTW: It does look like Amanda WILL be replacing the Weir character on “Stargate: Atlantis” after all, news I didn’t know until now.) But anyways, back to “Sanctuary”…
Here is Starlog’s write-up on the show:
Stage 3 Media Inc., a Vancouver-based production company, today announced the debut of a teaser for SANCTUARY, its new science fiction web-episode series.
SANCTUARY’s cast is led by internationally-recognized actor Amanda Tapping (STARGATE: SG-1).
Created by veteran science fiction writer/producer Damian Kindler, the series also stars Robin Dunne (DAWSON’S CREEK) and Emilie Ullerup (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA).
Kindler and Tapping serve as executive producers along with N. John Smith and director Martin Wood (STARGATE SG-1, ATLANTIS).
“There are monsters loose in the world. And they are the key to the future of our race.”
SANCTUARY will follow the exploits of Dr. Helen Magnus (Tapping), as she seeks out all manner of terrifying and monstrous creatures.
SANCTUARY is being planned for a Spring premiere.
“The future of media is convergence: television, video gaming and social networking will combine to become a single, powerful entertainment medium,” says Marc Aubanel, co-founder of Stage 3 Media. “Sanctuary is poised to be at the forefront of this revolution.”
I’m not entirely sure how it all works, but I think you have to buy the episodes online in order to view them (or download them) online. There are currently four “webisodes” on the official site, and they each go for $1.99 an ep. There are also high-definition versions of the episode available. Each webisode is 15 minutes long.
A teaser trailer for “Sanctuary” can be seen below, but for a better quality trailer, you should go to the show’s official site here.
