A Little More Details About Star Trek 11

It’s been known for a while now that the guys writing the Star Trek 11 script, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (who are also responsible for “Transformers”), have turned in their draft, and now it’s up to J.J. Abrams and Paramount to get the ball rolling on their end — re: production. Now via the New York Times, we know a little bit more about the script Kurtzman and Orci turned in. Well, okay, we still don’t know THAT much, but we know now more than we did previously. Which wasn’t very much, except that Star Trek 11 would be a prequel of sorts.

According to the New York Times, the plot of the movie, due out Christmas 2008, will indeed return to the era of Capt. Kirk and will also see him embark on his earliest adventures with his intrepid crew of explorers. And now that the script is finished, both writers feel that they can now afford to relax a little.

Later in the article:

By focusing on the earliest missions of Kirk and Spock, the film will hopefully avoid contradicting the existing mythology of the franchise. In doing so, fans will be able to view the rebooted story in the same overall saga as the existing series. And aside from re-inventing Star Trek for a new generation, the movie aims to to introduce the audience to the characters in a more intimate fashion than before.

Now the question is, who is going to star as young Kirk and Spock… Let the debate begin!
