No word yet on when filming will commence or who the cast will be. Thanks Harry.

It’s Official: NBC Renews Chuck for Third Season

On the heels that FOX has renewed Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse for a second, albeit shorter season (with budget cuts), NBC is following suit by renewing the fan favorite (but lowly rated) Chuck for a third season, according to Entertainment Weekly. But just as Whedon’s Dollhouse will return to the airwaves with a shorten season and noticeable cuts, so too will Chuck.

Kung Fu Cyborg Poster Asks The Important Questions

“Kung Fu Cyborg” is the kind of romantic comedy I can get behind. Cyborgs hop around, kicking butt, apparently in the style of the chinese vampires popularized in the 80’s classic Mr. Vampire series. While exhibiting their cyborgy kung-fu bonifides they wrestle with questions we all struggle with.

James Kirk’s Dad Will Stand Tall And Blond As Thor

Chris Hemsworth, an Australian lad last seen as James T. Kirks doomed dad in “Star Trek” has been cast as the mighty “Thor” in the Kenneth Branagh directed film being made for Marvel Studios. Chris beat out fan favorite Alexander Skarsgard, of True Blood and Generation Kill fame for the part of the thunder god and wielder of the heavy hammer Mjolnir. Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily had the scoop.

Warp Drive Propulsion on the Horizon?

Marc Millis, former head of NASA’s Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Project, explains in this video how it might be possible to achieve superluminal travel using our current understanding of the universe. All I know is, sign me up for that please! This guy seems to know what he’s talking about so take a look for yourselves.

Nazis Channel Pink Floyd In Iron Sky

Oh those sneaky Nazis. At the end of WW2, with the allies bearing down and defeat a grim inevitability, the science mad nerds of the Third Reich abandon the Fatherland and head for shelter on the Dark Side of the Moon. There, they rebuild and patiently await the moment when they can return to Earth to get all Nazi on us again.

Joss Whedon’s DollHouse Officially Back For Next Season

Variety has reported that Eliza Dushku will thankfully be back on television next year in “Dollhouse”. “Dollhouse” is about a group of people, mainly consisting of hot girls it seems, that get themselves programmed to be other people for secret agenty and other purposes usually involving Eliza in leather or lingerie. This may be a selective memory of mine as I am neuronically challenged this morning (martini’s and scrabble last night in an epic battle of three letter words).

Official Synopsis for Gerard Butler’s Gamer

Lionsgate has sent over the official synopsis for their upcoming sci-fi action movie “Gamer”, starring Gerard Butler (“300″) and Michael C. Hall (Showtime’s Dexter). The film is written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (“Crank”), and is due out September 4.

HumanKind In A Solar Perspective

Astronomer Thierry Legault shot these pictures with his Takahashi TOA-130 refractor telescope and a Canon 5D Mk II along with a few other astronomy and camera doodads. These images were captured soon after launch and show the shuttle Atlantis alone and the Atlantis and Hubble as they cross the face of the sun. Pictures like these put the real in my Sci-Fi. Thank Gizmodo.

Astronauts get to watch Star Trek in Space

How appropriate is it that the latest Star Trek film is being beamed aboard the International Space Station? Very much so, really.

Paramount sent a copy of the movie to NASA and then it was directly uplinked to the space station for the viewing pleasure of astronaut Michael Barrat and two of his crew mates. Michael Barrat credits his love for space exploration to the original series, citing it as his inspiration,

Gee, I hope They Don’t do Something Weird with it…

NBC Universal Television recently held an auction for Battlestar Galactica memorabilia, where BSG nerds with disposable cash (or however much they could steal from their parents) got the chance to buy their very own copy of Starbuck’s flight suit or that incredible red number that Cylon Number Six (played by Tricia Helfer) wore for much of the show. According to SciFiWire, a couple of geeks did put their cash where their hormones were, snapping up Starbuck’s flight suit for $16,500, while Number Six’s red number went for a chart-topping $23,000.

Monica Bellucci is a Sorceress

Variety reports that lovely Italian actress turned staple of French cinema Monica Bellucci has joined the cast of Disney’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, currently shooting in New York with Nicolas Cage, under the auspices of Jon Turteltaub (of the “National Treasure” movies). In the fantasy film, Bellucci would play Veronica, a sorceress and the long-lost love of Nicolas Cage’s character, Balthazar Blake, which makes Nicolas Cage one lucky dog.

The UK’s Primeval Headed to Big Screen in U.S.

Not content to just port the UK series over to the US, Warner Bros. has bought the movie rights to the UK show Primeval with an eye towards turning it into one of those big summer event films full of dinosaurs, time travel, and one presumes, an elite squad of pretty people trying to stop them. Variety reports that the WB has hired Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster to produce the film for a U.S. audience, which will mean first hiring a screenwriter.

New Transformers 2 Images Show Michael Bay Doing Director Stuff

In case you don’t know, Michael Bay is a director of explosive action movies, and here are some more images from his latest, “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” showing the Bayster doing what he usually does on a movie set. Which is, you know, directing a stuff. Plus, some more additional images of the lovely Megan Fox doing what Megan Fox does best, which is looking lovely while fearing for her life.

Our First Look And Trailer For Cormac McCarthy’s The Road

I’ve been waiting for this trailer forever. “The Road” documents a man and his son’s travels across a dead America after some unknown cataclism. “The Road” star Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Guy Pierce and Robert Duvall.
