Under The Skin: When Aliens Can’t Find Fast Food, Humans Will Have To Do

The novel, “Under The Skin” was written by Michel Faber and tells the happy story of hungry aliens on the roads of Scotland, hunting for the only thing that can satisfy that extraterrestrial munchie attack, fresh juicy humans. The novel has been out for a while and has been stalked by film making types for some time. Now it seems is the perfect time for the tale of a large breasted alien female as she stalks the highways and byways of Scotland for nice humans, firm and fully packed with delicious goodness. I just have to read this book. The film is being developed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast). Jim Wilson and Nick Wechsler. Thanks to Slashfilm and to Screendaily for the good news.

Flash Forward Clip Explains The Experience

Joseph Fiennes, one of the stars of this falls ABC series “Flash Forward” explains to us his experience of the puzzling incident that befalls all conscious citizens of the planet Earth. His description requires some pacing and hand wringing. “Flash Forward” is based on a novel by the same name by Canadian Sci-Fi writer Robert J. Sawyer and describes the mayhem that ensues when several billion people suddenly go unconscious simultaneously for 2 minutes and have a vision of what they will be doing 6 months in the future. “Flash Forward” also stars Courtney Vance and John Cho (sulu!) Eleventh Hour Gets the Axe

The chopping block has been somewhat unkind to science fiction lately. Eleventh Hour is the latest show to get cancelled as reported by Entertainment Weekly columnist Michael Ausiello. I personally am saddened by this devastating news and…no I’m not really, but I’m sure there are the token few fans of the show that are mourning its loss, right? Anyone? Hello?!?

Preview: New V Official Synopsis, Promo Images, and Clips

In case you haven’t heard, ABC has a new version of Kenneth Johnson’s V that’s headed to the airwaves later this year. Here is your full preview of the show, including two clips showing the arrival of the aliens (or Visitors) and their gorgeous but oh-so-creepy leader Anna (Morena Baccarin, Firefly) making lots of promises and demanding favorable media coverage, and a pile of pics from the pilot episode. You get the feeling after the first clip that if anyone doesn’t completely give themselves over to the sainthood of the Visitors, mysterious strangers that show up out of nowhere to make every pie in the sky promise you can think off at absolutely no cost to you, they may be ostracized or attacked relentless by the media. Wow, I’m glad that can never happen in real life! Ahem.

First Stargate Atlantis DVD Movie Will be Called Extinction

You know I love me my Stargate. Sure, most people find it kind of bland and a little by-the-numbers, but maybe that’s just what I want in my daily dose of sci-fi TV. There are plenty of new and hipper sci-fi out there, but give me a nice, new Stargate episode once a week, and I’m a happy camper. So with Stargate: Atlantis now gone to make way for Stargate: Universe, what’s the deal with the Atlantis direct-to-DVD original movies we’ve been promised? We still have no idea what they’ll be about, but at least now we know what the title will be — “Stargate: Extinction”.

Three New Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen Clips

Three new television clips from “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” have begun to hit the airwaves and we have them here for you to feast on. On display is the usually collection of metal, explosions, Megan Fox and mass destruction. Just the way I like to start my day but not necessarily in that order. Gentlemen, start your engines. Sci-Fi’s Top 5 Toughest Gals

toughgalsThere is no denying the contribution these characters have made to a genre otherwise dominated by men, and this list represents five of my favorite star hoppin’, cyborg bustin’ and alien blastin’ women in all the universe. They are bold, resourceful, intelligent, sexy and tough as nails. I know I wouldn’t mess with them that’s for sure, but enough jabbering on. Let’s get down to business.

Sam Worthington Interviewed On Being Half Man Half Machine In Terminator: Salvation

Extremely lucky and busy Sci-Fi action movie star Sam Worthington has a lot to say about his role as Marcus Wright in next weeks “Terminator: Salvation”. Among the highlights is a comparison between filming action sequences in Terminator and James Cameron’s “Avatar” and whether he might be back for a possible (probable) sequel. Sam is currently playing Perseus in the currently filming Clash of the Titans. Thanks to Io9 for getting the busy Mr. Worthington to sit down and talk to them.

Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy Shows: Renewals, Cancellations, and Newcomers

With the networks officially kicking off their upfront presentations this month, we’ve now gotten official (and in some cases, semi-official) confirmations about which shows are coming back, which ones are gone, and what new offerings will be available to the genre fans out there. The schedule for the upfronts are: FOX’s begins today, followed by ABC on Tuesday, and CBS on Wednesday. NBC already did theirs earlier this month.

Promos and Detailed Synopsis for Fox’s Past Life

In the new FOX show Past Lives, a team of investigators use regression therapy to probe people’s past lives in order to solve today’s crimes. I have no idea how that’s going to work, but it sure sounds fantastical and intriguing and more than a little sci-fi. You probably won’t be seeing laser beams or aliens, but it still sounds pretty out there, but not completely “out there” for the babbling FOX network, which just canceled The Sarah Connor Chronicles but oddly kept Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

Another District 9 Poster Promotes Alien-Human Unity

Just got in another poster for Neill Blomkamp’s South African sci-fi drama “District 9″, this one hoping to promote some human-alien lovin’. If you haven’t heard of “District 9″ yet, the film has an extraterrestrial race being forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth, where they find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology. Starring no one you’ve heard of, but produced by that guy who did the “Lord of the Rings” films, the film opens August 14.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles Officially Canceled?

Entertainment Weeklys Michael Ausiello is reporting some bad news for Terminator fans. He reports that “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” has been officially canceled. Ughhh, that smarts. I was just really starting to get into it. It’s not been confirmed by anyone else yet that I’ve seen so maybe he had a bad dream or ate something that didn’t agree with him and hallucinated it. Thanks EW, I guess.
