Len Wiseman to Direct Shell Game

For a man who has had nothing but hits on his resume (counting among them the two “Underworld” movies and “Live Free or Die Hard”), Len Wiseman sure has trouble getting movies made. He was attached to two films in recent years, the remake of John Carpenter’s “Escape from New York” and the videogame movie adaptation “Gears of War”, but both have fallen through. Now Wiseman is setting his sights on what he calls a “passion project”, the sci-fi futuristic thriller “Shell Game”.

Ben Browder to Bring Going Homer Mini-Series for Sci Fi Channel

Ben Browder isn’t just a smart ass capable of saving the world, he’s also a director and writer and now, producer. Browder tells Sci Fi Wire that he’s currently developing a mini-series called “Going Homer” that will be based on characters from Greek and Roman mythology. Besides producing it, Browder will also co-write the series with fellow Farscape alum Andrew Prowse.

Aliens vs. Predator 3 is “Certainly” a Go

You can’t keep a good Predator down. Or bad Aliens. Or both the humans running for their lives from said aliens and predator. Good news for fans of the series, because rumor has it that the third installment in the battlin’ aliens franchise is, in all likelihood, will happen over at 20th Century Fox. Or at least that’s the word according to a scooper who told Shock Til You Drop, a horror movie site, so I don’t know what they’re doing covering sci-fi, but I ain’t complain’.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie Poster

To be perfectly honest with you, I’m still not sure why George Lucas is making a feature length animated film based on that whole “Clone Wars” stuff and releasing it into theaters. But I guess he reckons his Star Wars fans will watch pretty much anything he puts out with the “Star Wars” stamp on it; otherwise, why would anyone make his prequels hits? Those movies were Godawful. Anyways, here’s the poster for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated movie.

Named “Dren”, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly.

The Spectacular Spider-Man Cartoon Images

Speaking of The Spectacular Spider-Man, he’s coming to TV in an all-new cartoon from the WB, and will be joining the network’s Saturday Morning Line-up right before The Batman, which has its series finale (re: its very last episode) the same week that The Spectacular Spider-Man will be debuting — this coming Saturday, March 8, 2008. You will be seeing villains like Doctor Octopus, Electro, Vulture, Venom and Sandman making the webcrawler’s life miserable, but isn’t that half the fun? Some images from the upcoming TV show below.

The Justice League Guest-Stars on The Batman Finale: Promo Images

The Batman is closing up shop on the WB’s Kids programming line, and he’s going out with a bang. Or, specifically, a 1-hour finale that will guest-star the Justice League, as an alien menace called The Joining steals the League’s powers and transfers them to android versions. It’s up to the Batman and Green Arrow, the only two non-powered members of the League, to save the day. Check out some artwork from the The Batman series finale. One word: Holy crap, it looks fantastic!

Smallville Spoilers: One Character Dies, Two are Leaving

I’ve already said it, so I hope it doesn’t sound too much like a broken record, but I don’t see the point in keeping Smallville on the air for an eight season. I mean, seriously, folks, what can you find out or learn about Superman and his days back on the farm that you haven’t learned in the preceding seven years? At this point, it’s just beating an old horse to death, which is probably why two regulars on the show have asked for downtime, and will only be making cameos in the eighth season, while a third character will actually die — as in, for good. Can it be the show? Just kidding! Read on.

New Amsterdam Premiere Scores High Ratings

I’m really not sure how much faith you can put in this news of New Amsterdam’s high ratings for its premiere episode from last night. Why do I say that? Because although I liked the show, and will be watching it, the premiere had a major boost from FOX’s American Idol, and let’s face it, you could put a show about an old lady reading a grocery list from her basement on after American Idol and it would still get pretty decent ratings. But hey, why look a gift horse in the mouth? Good news is good news, right?

Mulder and Scully Kiss from X-Files 2

I don’t really consider this a SPOILER, since the last time we saw Mulder and Scully on the small screen, they were cuddling up on a motel bed. I mean, seriously, guys, where else could they go after that? Kissing in the upcoming “X-Files 2″ movie? Yup, you bet. Here are some pictures from the set of the two stars filming a scene, where it looks like Mulder is saying goodbye to Scully, gives her a hug, and then plants a bit wet one. Check it out below.

Retro Sci-Fi: Now and Again

It had 22 episodes, but it really should have had more. Created, written, and produced by Glenn Gordon Caron (who would go on to create the popular Medium for NBC) in 2000, Now and Again concerned one Michael Wiseman as a re-built man (the Six Million Dollar Man for the new millennium, if you will), who is put to work by the U.S. Government under the close supervision of Dr. Theodore Morris (played by 24 and The Unit’s Dennis Haysbert). Originally a 40-something husband and father of one (played in cameos by John Goodman), Wiseman becomes a 26-year old, genetically modified superhuman man played by Eric Close (now with the hit show Without a Trace).

Alien Agent (2007) Movie Review

Jesse Johnson’s “Alien Agent” is less a sci-fi movie about invading aliens as it’s a martial arts movie with invading aliens. The film stars Mark Dacascos as the alien agent of the title, sent to Earth to stop an alien renegade military unit from creating a “gateway” that would connect Earth to their alien homeworld, after which they would use the portal to invade Earth. For you see, their homeworld is dying, and they need a replacement. While the good alien folks back home are willing to search for an uninhabited planet to start over again, Billy Zane and company are not so nice, and plans to invade Earth.

Rose Byrne Joins Alex Proyas’ Knowing

Rose ByrneAlex Proyas’ “Knowing” is something better everytime I hear about it. Then again, we are talking about Alex Proyas here, and since “Dark City”, I’ve been a fan of this guy and pretty much everything he’s done. Okay, so maybe I didn’t quite “get” the garage band indie movie “Garage Days”, but everything else has been pretty darn good. Proyas’ latest is “Knowing”, and besides star Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne has now signed on to play the female lead.

More About Emmerich’s 2012

Director Roland Emmerich’s new movie, “2012″ was so good that studios engaged in a bidding war for it. Or at least that’s what people are saying. Personally, I think people just realized the dude has done a ton of entertaining movies and made a bucket load of money, and studios love nothing more than a bankable filmmaker, and Roland Emmerich is certainly that. Now, here’s more about his latest, the “end of the world” disaster movie “2012″. Right. Emmerich and “end of the world” movies. Not exactly a stretch, eh?
