Amy Acker Enters Whedon’s Dollhouse!

I swear, I’m not trying to turn the site into a pseudo Dollhouse fansite, but it just so happens that Joss Whedon has been great about releasing information about his new show on FOX, and as a sci-fi blogger, I wanna thank you for not being stingy like a lot of other creators out there. According to Whedon’s main fansite, Whedonesque, comes news that former Whedon angel Amy Acker (pictured, left), along with Miracle Laurie, has joined the cast of Dollhouse! And yes, I am very excited about this.

More Images from Vincenzo Natali’s Splice

Via IO9.com, here are some more images from Vincenzo Natali’s upcoming sci-fi movie “Splice”, including a poster that I hadn’t seen before. The images are hosted over at a Spanish site, but since I can’t read Spanish, I don’t know the site’s title. In any case, the images look like concept artwork from the movie, including some, shall we say, very nude pictures of the type of “mutants” that the main characters in the movie will be “splicing” together, hence the title, one presumes.

24′s Harry Lennix Joins Whedon’s Dollhouse

The casting for Joss Whedon’s FOX series Dollhouse has gotten pretty hot and heavy of late. The latest (and last?) addition comes from another FOX show, 24, where Harry Lennix played a character named Walid Al-Rezani. I don’t even remember who Walid Al-Rezani is on the show, but then again, 24 has so many characters coming and going, it’s hard to remember all of them unless they really make an impact. In any case, Lennix will be playing an ex-cop whose mission is to guard Echo, played by Eliza Dushku.

Shane Abbess to Direct Source Code

Australian director Shane Abbess’ debut film, the noirish gothic fantasy “Gabriel” must have made quite an impression, because Hollywood has taken notice and now Shane Abbess (pictured, left) is scheduled to direct a new sci-fi thriller called “Source Code” for big boy movie studio Universal. Abbess’ “Gabriel” was made for $200,000, but has already made over $1.2 million so far in its Native Australia, and now Screen Gems has bought the film for U.S. distribution.

More Dollhouse Details

Kristin over at E! Online has even more details and semi-SPOILERS about Joss Whedon’s new TV series for FOX, the Eliza Dushku (pictured, left) starrer Dollhouse. We’ve already reported extensively on the new show, and buy now you pretty much know all you need to know. But just in case you don’t, here are the breakdowns: the first episode, the pilot, will be called “Echo”, which is the name of Eliza Dushku’s character; BSG’s Tahmoh Penikett plays an FBI agent and Echo’s eventual love interest; and Olivia Williams plays Adelle Dewitt, the head of the Dollhouse, where the “dolls” are kept until they’re needed for a mission.

X-Files 2 Title Revealed: I Want to Believe

Chris Carter has finally decided to stop playing coy with “The X-Files 2″ and has revealed the sequel’s title: “X-Files 2: I Want to Believe”. Yes, that’s the actual title. It’s not April Fools day or anything, although I wish it were. Seriously, “I Want to Believe”? You’ve got to be kidding me, Chris Carter. According to The Associated Press, “Distributor 20th Century Fox signed off on the title Wednesday,” and Carter officially revealed it to the AP.

Dreamworks to Wage War with Atlantis Rising

Writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are two of the busiest men in Hollywood. Besides J.J. Abrams’ Trek 11 and “Transformers 2″, the duo have about a half dozen projects currently in development, including the Abrams TV show Fringe. Their latest will be adapting and producing the comic book series “Atlantis Rising” for Dreamworks. The comics, written by Scott O. Brown and drawn by Tim Irwin and Andy Elder, is a 5-issue limited series that has Earth battling for survival against an underwater civilization — aka Altantis.

Things get complicated when one of the actives, Echo (Eliza Dushku) starts to remember.

Dreamworks to Make Live-Action 3D Ghost in the Shell Movie!

Wow, I can’t believe I actually have something in common with Steven Spielberg: We’re both a huge fan of the 1995 anime movie “Ghost in the Shell”. Okay, so maybe that’s a stretch, but what’s not a stretch is that Spielberg liked the movie enough that he personally pursued the movie rights to the film, and has gotten it for Dreamworks to produce as a live-action 3D feature length movie. Yes, that’s right, folks — “Ghost in the Shell” is coming to a movie screen near you, with real people!

FOX Greenlights Ron Moore’s Virtuality

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the FOX network has just greenlit a two-hour back door pilot for a new sci-fi TV series from Battlestar Galactica Ron Moroe (pictured, left) called Virtuality. The show has a great premise, and I can only hope that Moore’s involvement (the project was originally developed by producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun) doesn’t mean more of the same. Battlestar Galactica may have broken grounds, especially for a sci-fi show, but I’m not sure if I can get behind another depressing TV show set aboard a spaceship. One is enough, right?

Star Trek 11 Behind-the-Scenes Tidbits

One-half of the writing team behind J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek 11″ was at the 16th Annual Grand Slam: The Sci-Fi Summit in Burbank, CA over the weekend, and ScreenRant had a guy there who jotted down some notes. The primary speaker was writer Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the Abrams movie with his partner Robert Kurtzman, who wasn’t there. Orci answered a lot of questions about how the film was handled behind the scenes, but not so much about the plot, only to say that it was written with Leonard Nimoy’s Spock in mind, that if he hadn’t sign on, they would have had been in trouble.

Movie Trailer: Star Wars – The Clone Wars

No, it’s not the trailer for “Clone Wars” that you’ve seen before. This one is for the newly announced “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie that is designed to bridge the gap between parts 2 and 3, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”. Because, you know, there were a lot of unanswered questions that apparently George Lucas thinks you Star Wars nuts will desperately want to find out and all that good stuff.

Stargate: Continuum Bootleg Trailer

Well it’s not the best quality, and to be sure the sounds of the audience hooting and hollering doesn’t exactly make it the best viewing environment, but, um, well, it’s your first look at the teaser trailer for the upcoming Stargate: SG1 DVD movie, “Stargate: Continuum”. One word: Richard Dean Anderson is back, baby! Check it out below. I don’t know how long it’s going to stay up on YouTube, but I’ll try to find other versions just in case.

Ready for the Battle of Los Angeles?

Those damn alien invaders. Every time we beat them back, they keep giving that whole Earth invasion thing another try! This time the battleground is Los Angeles, where the sci-fi action movie “Battle: Los Angeles” will take place for Columbia Pictures. The film will follow a squad of Marines as they battle aliens on the streets of Los Angeles following an alien invasion. Wow. Now is that a great premise or is that a great premise? Maybe like a cross between “Black Hawk Down” and “Halo”, maybe? One can only hope.
