Just as J.J. Abrams attached the trailer of his highly-anticipated “Cloverfield” in front of a major geek movie (“Transformers”), he’s now attached the teaser trailer for his upcoming “Star Trek 11″ reboot to “Cloverfield”, which will open everywhere January 18th, 2008. This news was confirmed to MTV, who got the news from “Cloverfield” director Matt Reeves himself.

Harlan Ellison Denies Star Trek 11′s Guardian Plot
A while back, the guys over at AICN reported that J.J. Abrams, the writer/director of the upcoming Trek 11, was going to be using the Guardian, the time travel device from the old Star Trek episode “The City on the Edge of Forever”, as the means by which some unsavory Romulans travels into the past to kill Kirk. I think it was also posted on IESB, though who got what first, I don’t know, and I don’t really care right now. Now sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison, who wrote the original episode story, says that isn’t true, and he’s kind of mad about it.
Gina Holden Talks Future Flash Gordon Episodes
I can’t say as if I’m a big fan of The Sci Fi Channel’s Flash Gordon TV series, although in the handful of episodes I’ve seen, I have liked it. It’s got a certain kind of goofy fun about it that makes it likable; nothing is ever taken too seriously on the show, although there are parts, mostly having to do with the Ming character’s evil schemes, that are just not that interesting. In any case, star Gina Holden gave us a preview of the show’s upcoming Episode 21 and 22.
Star Wars Toys That Never Made It
We all know George Lucas is a friggin’ genius when it comes to merchandising the hell out of his Star Wars universe, from action figures to models to videogames. But have you ever wondered about all the toys that George Lucas actually said “No” to? Well McMorran.org got to wondering, and he dug up some gems.
James Cameron’s Avatar Release Date Changed
James Cameron’s mammoth undertaking “Avatar” is still a couple of years away from being anywhere near “releasable”, but the Fox studio has already decided to change the film’s release date from the original Memorial Day 2009 to December 18th, 2009, says Variety. For those keeping track of Cameron’s past works, this means “Avatar” will open in the same weekend as Cameron’s last film, 1997′s massive hit “Titanic”.
Is Aliens vs. Predator 3 on the Way?
According to director siblings Colin and Greg Strause, the ending of the upcoming “Aliens vs. Predator 2″ sets up a third installment in the sci-fi franchise. If it does happen, says the Strauses, the battle will be taken to the stars, which would be a good idea because, let’s face it, it’s about time the setting changed a little bit in this series.
First Image from The X-Files 2 Movie Set
In case you haven’t heard, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be returning as Mulder and Scully, respectively, on a big screen near you sometime in 2008 in “The X-Files 2″, the sequel to the 1998 “X-Files” movie. Joining them will be the series creator Chris Carter, who will be writing and directing. Now here’s your first look at Duchovny in Mulder garb, joined by new co-star Amanda Peet, who is playing an FBI agent.
Kevin Falls to Explain Journeyman’s Time Travel Device
Afraid that his show may not return after its 12th and final episode (unless NBC orders more, which doesn’t seem likely considering the show’s low ratings), the show’s creator Kevin Falls ensures fans that the show’s 11th and 12th episode will deal with lead character Dan’s ability to time travel. SPOILERS BELOW.

Movie Preview: Aliens vs Predator 2 – Requiem
Those pesky Aliens and those pesky Predators. Or should we say, those pesky aliens, period? We can’t get enough of them, so it’s Round Two for the aliens that spit acid and one lonesome alien armed with hi-tech weapons. It all goes down in a small Colorado Town in the middle of what looks like a friggin’ rainstorm from all the pictures I’m seeing from the movie. Here is your preview of “Aliens vs Predator 2: Requiem”.
Stargate: The Ark of Truth DVD Release Date
There is finally something new for Stargate SG1 fans — the DVD release date for the first of two upcoming SG1 made-for-TV movies, “Stargate: The Ark of Truth”. Gateworld has the DVD hitting March 11, 2008, with, one supposes, the second movie coming soon thereafter.

Sci-Fi Movie Trailer: Jumper
Doug Liman’s “Jumper” definitely looks like it could be good science fiction fun. The story is pretty unique: a kid from an abusive household one day discovers that he has the ability to teleport anywhere in the world. He uses that power to become a thief and live in a life of luxury until a second Jumper appears, followed by Samuel L. Jackson as a government badass looking to capture him.
Quinto Shows off Spock Eyebrows to EW
Heroes star and now young Spock Zachary Quinto swung over to the offices of Entertainment Weekly to let them see his arched Vulcan eyebrows (pictured left, bigger image below), plus an accompanying article that is mostly about how long it took to put on the Vulcan ears, or as Quinto says, “‘the biggest earlobes you’ve ever seen.”
First Look at Chris Pine as Kirk in Star Trek 11
Well okay, so it’s your very blurry first look at actor Chris Pine in uniform as a young Captain James T. Kirk from the upcoming J.J. Abrams’ Trek reboot. Website JFXonline claims that it is indeed Pine as Kirk, but um, your guess is as good as mine if it’s true or not, that could be a girl for all we know, the image quality is that poor.
Fritz Lang’s Metropolis to be Remade
Yes, you read that correctly. Someone is actually not just thinking about remaking Fritz Lang’s film, but is actively trying to get it done. The man in question is producer Thomas Schuehly (“Alexander”), who has acquired the remake rights. Schuehly has partnered with “Terminator” producer Mario Kassar on his quest to making an “updated version” of the 1927 silent sci-fi classic, reports Variety.
